Testimonial - NurFadhlina, 31, Teacher and Mother

Assalamu'alaikum. My name is Nur Fadhlina Hj Sebli, 31, from Tutong and a mother of two.

During my 2nd pregnancy back in 2015, my doctor advised that my blood sugar was on the borderline which prompted me to do something on how to reduce it.

I wanted a holistic approach and as natural as can be without having to rely on medication. I came across on how consuming camel milk is beneficial for diabetics as it has insulin like substances that may improve the glycemic (sugar) control in diabetics.

From the information I gathered, it caught my eye that camel milk was also recommended by the medical profession to be consumed as a way to treat a broad range of other ailments too.

I was quite happy that fresh camel milk was available in Brunei and I started consuming it throughout my pregnancy. My blood sugar level dropped to normal. I continued to consume fresh camel milk and Alhamdulillah successfully maintained a healthy blood sugar level.

After giving birth to my son, I noticed that my son's growing up progress and development was at a faster rate. He also had strong bones. How did I know that? Call it a mother's instincts and it's always right.

I started to recommend fresh camel milk to family and friends and to those who are diabetics as well.

I recommended it to my mother as she too had a high blood sugar level and was having painful sensations in her feet. And after continuously drinking fresh camel milk, Alhamdulillah, my mother now has a healthy blood sugar level and the pain in her feet has been lessened since.

As a true fan of fresh camel milk, I continue to help spread the word of it's health benefits and share my experiences with others.

Assalamu'alaikum.

Camelicious : Laban (yogurt) with Fenugreek

Fenugreek is an herb similar to clover that is native to the Mediterranean region, southern Europe, and western Asia. The seeds are used in cooking, to make medicine, or to hide the taste of other medicine. Fenugreek seeds smell and taste somewhat like maple syrup. Fenugreek leaves are eaten in India as a vegetable.

Fenugreek is taken by mouth for digestive problems such as loss of appetite, upset stomachconstipationinflammation of the stomach (gastritis). Fenugreek is also used for diabetes, painful menstruation, polycystic ovary syndrome, and obesity. It is also used for conditions that affect heart health such as "hardening of the arteries" (atherosclerosis) and for high blood levels of certain fats including cholesterol andtriglycerides.

Fenugreek is used for kidney ailments, a vitamin deficiency disease called beriberi, mouth ulcers, boils, bronchitis, infection of the tissues beneath the surface of the skin (cellulitis), tuberculosis, chronic coughs, chapped lips, baldness, cancer, Parkinson's disease, and exercise performance.

Some men use fenugreek for herniaerectile dysfunction (ED), male infertility, and other male problems.

Women who are breast-feeding sometimes use fenugreek to promote milk flow.

Fenugreek is sometimes used as a poultice. That means it is wrapped in cloth, warmed, and applied directly to the skin to treat local pain and swelling (inflammation),muscle pain, pain and swelling of lymph nodes (lymphadenitis), pain in the toes (gout), wounds, leg ulcers, and eczema.

In foods, fenugreek is included as an ingredient in spice blends. It is also used as a flavoring agent in imitation maple syrup, foods, beverages, and tobacco.

In manufacturing, fenugreek extracts are used in soaps and cosmetics.

How does it work?

Fenugreek appears to slow absorption of sugars in the stomach and stimulate insulin. Both of these effects lower blood sugar in people with diabetes.

Testimonial - SM Kuan, 23, Active Lifestyle

SM Kuan, Bruneian, 23, IT
We are what we eat. That is my personal motto. I first came to know about camel milk when I saw an advert on the social media regarding about its health benefits and made me wonder as it was selling like hot cakes here in Brunei.

I started to do some reading and found useful information with regards to how fresh camel milk is beneficial for our overall health. I even Youtube'd the process for camel milk. And then I decided to try fresh camel milk as I have always been very conscious about my dietary daily consumption.

Immediately after trying fresh camel milk, I felt that my body was reacting rather well to it and I found myself feeling more energetic and healthier in a sense that it made me feel better.

The first time I tasted camel milk, can be described in just one word "EXOTIC". Honestly, it has a taste that cannot be described. I was hooked! It also had a BOLD taste and I liked it. I began to order in bulk every month.

I also began to get creative by mixing fresh camel milk with other food. I mixed it with oats, added it to my coffee or tea and even successfully used it for my baking.

I lead an active lifestyle where I go to the gym and various other physical activities every week. And after taking for more than a month, I noticed that I didn't feel tired as always before.

Feeling energised every morning as I wake up and I'm convinced that by adding fresh camel milk to my daily diet, more improvements will be seen. And as a bonus, I'm saving money as I do not need to purchase as much supplements as before.

I make sure that I'm fully stocked for a month by freezing it and defrosting it only when I want to have my fresh camel milk.

By switching to fresh camel milk, I have invested in my own health. We all should.

Kita adalah apa yang kita makan. Itulah motto peribadi saya.

Camel milk and healing Thallesemia

Let's have an understanding of what Thalessemia is first.

Below is information taken from the US National Library of Medicine.
Here is the full link. https://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000587.htm

Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in large numbers of red blood cells being destroyed, which leads to anemia.
Causes

  • Alpha thalassemia occurs when a gene or genes related to the alpha globin protein are missing or changed (mutated).
  • Beta thalassemia occurs when similar gene defects affect production of the beta globin protein.
  • Thalassemia major
  • Thalassemia minor
  • Asian, Chinese, Mediterranean, or African American ethnicity
  • Family history of the disorder
  • Bone deformities in the face
  • Growth failure
  • Yellow skin (jaundice)
  • Red blood cells will appear small and abnormally shaped when looked at under a microscope.
  • A complete blood count (CBC) reveals anemia.
  • A test called hemoglobin electrophoresis shows the presence of an abnormal form of hemoglobin.
  • A test called mutational analysis can help detect alpha thalassemia.

Symptoms
Exams and Tests
Treatment
Outlook (Prognosis)
Possible Complications
Hemoglobin is made of two proteins: Alpha globin and beta globin. Thalassemia occurs when there is a defect in a gene that helps control production of one of these proteins.
There are two main types of thalassemia:
Alpha thalassemias occur most often in persons from Southeast Asia, the Middle East, China, and in those of African descent.
Beta thalassemias occur most often in persons of Mediterranean origin. To a lesser extent, Chinese, other Asians, and African Americans can be affected.
There are many forms of thalassemia. Each type has many different subtypes. Both alpha and beta thalassemia include the following two forms:
You must inherit the gene defect from both parents to develop thalassemia major.
Thalassemia minor occurs if you receive the faulty gene from only one parent. Persons with this form of the disorder are carriers of the disease. Most of the time, they do not have symptoms.
Beta thalassemia major is also called Cooley's anemia.
Risk factors for thalassemia include:
The most severe form of alpha thalassemia major causes stillbirth (death of the unborn baby during birth or the late stages of pregnancy).
Children born with thalessemia major (Cooley's anemia) are normal at birth, but develop severe anemia during the first year of life.
Other symptoms can include:
Persons with the minor form of alpha and beta thalassemia have small red blood cells but no symptoms.
Your doctor will do a physical exam to look for an enlarged spleen.
A blood sample will be sent to a laboratory to be tested.
Treatment for thalassemia major often involves regular blood transfusions and folate supplements.
If you receive blood transfusions, you should not take iron supplements. Doing so can cause a high amount of iron to build up in the body, which can be harmful.
Persons who receive a lot of blood transfusions need a treatment called chelation therapy. This is done to remove excess iron from the body.
A bone marrow transplant may help treat the disease in some patients, especially children.
Severe thalassemia can cause early death (between ages 20 and 30) due to heart failure. Getting regular blood transfusions and therapy to remove iron from the body helps improve the outcome.
Less severe forms of thalassemia often do not shorten lifespan.
You may want to seek genetic counseling if you have a family history of the condition and are thinking of having children.
Untreated, thalassemia major leads to heart failure and liver problems. It also makes a person more likely to develop infections.
Blood transfusions can help control some symptoms, but carry a risk of side effects from too much iron.
